Two separate pilot studies have determined the in vivo<\/em>\u00a0survival of Megaflora 9 evo<\/strong> bacteria.<\/p>\n

Survival of Bifidobacterium<\/em><\/h4>\n

In the first study, the survival of Bifidobacterium<\/em> was\u00a0tested in 23 medical students from the University of\u00a0Wageningen. The study was randomized double-blind\u00a0controlled versus placebo with a dosage of 4 g of Megaflora\u00a09 evo<\/strong> or placebo per day divided in 2 doses for\u00a07 days.<\/p>\n

At the beginning and at the end of the study stool samples\u00a0were analyzed by PCR, DGGE and FISH. The results\u00a0showed that students who consumed Megaflora 9\u00a0evo<\/strong> presented a clear difference in the population of\u00a0bifidobacteria in the faeces compared to the placebo\u00a0group, evidenced by the DGGE profile.<\/p>\n

It can be appreciated that students\u00a0M9E-1 and M9E-7 presented specific markers for bifidobacteria\u00a0at day 7 after consumption of Megaflora\u00a09 ev<\/strong>o compared with baseline (red circles).<\/p>\n

These results demonstrate the survival of Bifidobacterium<\/em>\u00a0of Megaflora 9 evo<\/strong> in the gastrointestinal tract.<\/p>\n

Survival of Lactobacillus<\/em><\/h4>\n

In the second study, 100 medical students from the University\u00a0of Maastricht participated in a randomized double-blind controlled study versus placebo. The students\u00a0were equally divided into two groups that were given\u00a0Megaflora 9 evo<\/strong> or placebo.<\/p>\n

The duration of the study was 8 days during which students\u00a0consumed a dose of 3.8 g of Megaflora 9 evo<\/strong> or\u00a0placebo divided by 2 times a day. The aim of the study was\u00a0to check the survival of lactobacilli present in the faeces\u00a0after ingestion.<\/p>\n

The result showed a significant difference of lactobacilli\u00a0in the faeces of students who consumed Megaflora 9\u00a0evo<\/strong>, demonstrating the survival of the bacteria after the\u00a0GI passage.<\/p>\n
