The matrix significantly\u00a0improves the stability giving a long shelf life.<\/p>\n<p>The effectiveness of a probiotic product depends on\u00a0the total viable bacterial count in the product. For this\u00a0reason, the half-life of a probiotic products is based on\u00a0the total of viable cells during storage time. The best\u00a0method to measure the half-life of the product is by a\u00a0real time stability test (RTS), where the bacterial count\u00a0is expressed as colonies forming units (cfu) per gram,\u00a0meaning cfu as living and viable bacteria.<\/p>\n<p>The recent development of <strong>Megaflora 9 evo<\/strong> makes not\u00a0possible to have a real shelf life under RTS test. However,\u00a0it was carried out an accelerated stability test at 37\u00b0 C \u00b1\u00a02\u00b0 C for 4 weeks. This study considered the maximum\u00a0temperature at which no bacterial damage occurs, but\u00a0allows to check the stability in a short period that can be\u00a0extrapolated to a situation of 25\u00baC stability.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Megaflora 9 evo<\/strong> samples were tested at T0 to T2, T3\u00a0and T4 times. The result shows that the concentration of\u00a0bacteria was stable during all the time with a concentration\u00a0that exceeded one billion per gram, which is the\u00a0guaranteed concentration at the end of the shelf life of\u00a0the product.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Megaflora 9 evo<\/strong> has the same stable\u00a0behaviour than its probiotic and prebiotic predecessor,\u00a0which has a stability of 48 months in RTS test.<\/p>\n<p>The accelerated stability study has demonstrated that<strong>\u00a0Megaflora 9 evo<\/strong> has a comparable stability than its\u00a0predecessor and, therefore, at room temperature the\u00a0same behaviour is expected.
